I have never done this before but my son had a very bad accident with a chain saw blade grinder he was rebuilding a wooden playground set for his daughter for her birthday next week .When he was cutting it he hit a knot in the wood and the grinder came back at him. He immediately jumped off his ladder turned to tell his daughter to get to the house and ran to the door and called to his wife to call 911. Not even 2 mins went by and ems showed up. By then he lost about 2 pints of blood. His wife in the meantime tried to stop the bleeding with a towel used as a tourniquet but it wasn't stopping. Ems put an actual one on when they got to him. By the time he arrived at Hillcrest he had no movement in his hand. No feeling ,no pulse. Dr's tried to figure out where the bleeding was coming from. When they undid the tourniquet blood literally sprayed out hitting his neck and hit the dr and his nurse. From here they knew he needed emergency surgery to stop the bleeding. When he woke up they told him he nearly missed his artery but still hit the main vein. The vein retracted back into his arm. They had to dig thru his bicep to find it and reattach it. Also sliced his bicep muscles, other veins and blood vessels. They had to give him several units of blood that he lost. Its gonna be a slow recovery but he was lucky because Dr's said he was very close to hitting the artery if that would of happened he would have bled out or could have lost the arm completely. He will be out of work for a few months, he can't lift or use his arm for 8 weeks. He has a wife, 3 months old son and daughter who will be 3 years next week. He has to support his family, bills to pay, medical bills, groceries, etc..... will be out of work so no income coming in until he is able to use his arm and get back to work.....
