Patrick & Denny Kiel's Liver Transplant Recovery

Donation protected
Patrick and Dennis Kiel are two very loving fathers with a large family that love them both fiercely.
Dennis (Denny) Kiel, father of Patrick and loving Grandfather was diagnosed about 14 months ago with liver cancer and with approximately 18 months to live with his current liver.  He has undergone extensive treatment to keep his cancer at bay - but he still needs a liver transplant to survive.

For over fifteen years Denny and his wife led Mission Jamaica charities, worked with orphans, and have been a big part of Habitat for Humanity. Denny contracted Hepatitis C from a tainted blood transfusion that he needed after a freak skiing accident in the 1980's where he got a ski pole in his eye.  The Hepatitis C damaged his liver eventually causing liver cancer.

Patrick Kiel,  Denny's only child, is a loving father and husband. He works in sales and lives on a farm with his wife, kids, and a whole lot of animals. Patrick is everyone's best friend, he would give you the shirt off of his back, seriously! Ask him for a kidney.  His wife also works full time and will need to be off work to take care of Patrick, the farm and their younger children.

Patrick has undergone extensive testing and he is a perfect match to be a donor for his father.
They will remove all of Denny's liver and replace it with 74% of Patrick's liver on Wednesday,  August 14th, 2019.  They are scheduled for surgery that will take between 4 -5 hours at the Mayo Clinic in  Rochester,  MN.  Both of them will need round the clock care during their recovery for up to 6 months from family members and friends.

Your donation will allow Patrick and Denny to have a stress free recovery and help their family to not worry about the medical bills and returning to work before they are able.

The biggest threat of having this surgery is hoping the new implanted liver will not be rejected by Denny's own body.  It is a process that will have to be monitored daily for the rest of his life with the hope that anti-rejection medications will allow this surgery to be successful.

Your generosity is greatly appreciated by Patrick, Denny, and their entire family.

Denny recently lost his wife of 50 years and Patrick lost his 19-year-old daughter, and they are not ready to lose each other.

Thank you for your love and support during this time of need.
