It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Patricia (Patty) Matos passed on June 16, 2018 after an arduous battle with early onset Alzheimer's disease.
Patty possessed intelligence, humor, generosity of spirit and strong will. She worked tirelessly to bring joy to children and those she loved. She was selfless in her determination to make the world in which we live a better place. Her kindness and generosity benefited all those around her especially the children and disenfranchised in her community. She would only accept the best. She was an active volunteer in her local school district, a member of the Elwood PTA, moving on to being the president of the PTA and eventually a member of the Elwood Board of Education.
She touched everyone she met with her incredible kindness, humor and generosity, giving everything she possibly could to help someone in need or just to make someone smile. Her family would like to honor her unwavering dedication and leadership to the Elwood community by building a special needs inclusive playground at Harley Avenue elementary school.
Donation would be appreciated to help build "Patricia's Playground," so her legacy may live on in making children laugh and smile.
