Patricia Drobot Tribute Fund to Overlake Hospital
Hello,
Our mom was one of the healthiest people we ever knew. She never smoked, rarely drank, and if she did drink it was usually one glass of red wine. She loved eating salmon from the Pacific Northwest and always ate her vegetables. She loved working in her garden and baking delicious food in her kitchen. Those were her happy places.
In 2004, she experienced a heart attack while she was vacationing in Sevilla, Spain with her sons Greg and Nick. She was kept at the Hospital Universitario Virgen Macarena for over two weeks following a successful stent procedure. She was amazed by the quality of care by the nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals here. A few of the nurses even taught her some Spanish words so our mother could understand better. During this time, her father, our grandpa, passed away from complications relating to a stroke which he experienced a few years prior. Among other family members, her children Michael and Jennifer represented our family at the memorial of our grandpa, as Greg and Nick were unable to attend.
Patricia made her way back to Bellevue, WA, and specifically to Overlake Hospital, where she had a second stent procedure to repair another artery, which was largely blocked. She again was so grateful to the doctors and nurses here that comforted her during this time. She started seeing a cardiologist here who she continued to see for 17 years until her passing on April 18, 2021. As Patricia recovered from her surgeries, she began a working career at Pottery Barn, and eventually William Sonoma where she became a star sales person for many years, fueled by her passion for cooking and desire to share that with others. She also volunteered at Overlake Hospital for many years, delivering flowers, medications to patients, helping patients in wheelchairs to their cars, and many other tasks. She wanted to give back to the place that gave so much to her.
As previously indicated, she always ate very healthy, but suffered from low HDL (the good cholesterol) and higher LDL (the bad cholesterol). She had quarterly check-ins and tests in an effort to monitor her heart health. God only knows why she experienced a third heart attack on Friday, April 16, 2021. The one thing we do know is that more research, studies, and awareness is needed regarding heart and vascular health.
Because of this, we want to raise funds targeted for Overlake Hospital's Cardiac Services. Raising $10,000 would allow a contribution to the FutureCare Campaign with the recognition of Patricia Drobot's name on Overlake's campaign donor wall. Raising $25,000 would allow a room naming in her honor in the new East Tower. The 4th floor of the new tower and also the south tower are designated to Cardiac Care. As our mother spent so much time at Overlake Hospital over the past 20 years, we want her to leave a legacy here to help people live healthier and longer lives with a focus on heart health. Please help us achieve these goals and more. Any amount helps. Thank you for reading her story.
