Patmos Island School Fundraiser

The past three weeks we have been volunteering at Patmos Island school, a local primary school and orphanage in Arusha, Tanzania. Whilst volunteer teaching we’ve noticed the simplicity of the classrooms due to a severe lack of resources and we are really keen to help improve the learning space.

The children do not have enough textbooks, dictionaries, pencils, rubbers etc to help them learn English. Due to the lack of funds several places in the school have unsafe conditions for the kids. In some of the classrooms there are holes in the floor. The children aren’t able to comfortably sit in their chairs throughout the school day due to their chairs falling into the holes.

There is no play equipment other than a broken swing. Right now the school is financially focused on building new rooms for the orphans to have better living conditions, meaning there is not enough money for other simple resources in the school.

Our goal is simple: raise as much as possible and we will go to the shops and buy books, dictionaries, footballs and netballs and give money for school maintenance. We would be appreciative of any financial contribution. All funds raised will solely be contributed in purchasing resources and fixing infrastructure for the school.
