Patience & Family Medical Fund

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Amy, and I'm trying to help my 16-year-old niece and her mom and brother with their increasingly overwhelming medical debt.

Patience was in a rollover car accident on Dec. 3. in which she suffered a severe brain injury along with numerous other massive traumas such as a broken femur, crushed pelvis, bruised heart, and contused lungs. She has been a patient at Children's Mercy Hospital since that day -- uninsured -- and her mom, Carissa, has never left her side.

Patience was not expected to live, yet, remarkably, she has survived and has made continuous progress on her road to recovery. Just this week she was moved out of the Pediatric ICU to a rehab unit, where her journey continues with physical, occupational, and speech therapy.

Patience's journey will be long, and her mom and brother are spending most of their budget on gas to and from Children's Mercy. Like many of us, they have lived paycheck-to-paycheck, and this emergency is far, far beyond what their limited household funds can handle. In addition to crushing medical expenses, they need money for food, income replacement for Carissa, and auto repairs so their vehicles can continue to make the trip from Excelsior Springs, Mo.

Please help if you can. Many thanks and a happy new year to you!
