Telling My Story End of Year Campaign
Tax deductible
Telling My Story is a non-profit organization that aims to provide a platform through which socially isolated groups and individuals can break down the visible and invisible social walls that separate them. Using art as a medium for social reflection and relationship building, Telling My Story enables participants to develop communication skills and self-awareness; through writing and performing, participants behind walls empower themselves to reclaim their voices and to tell their stories.
Telling My Story runs programs throughout the Upper Valley, including the Dartmouth College course Telling Stories for Social Change, in which participants use performing arts as a tool for social reflection, culminating in a final performance shared with the community. In addition, the members of TMS have been touring with the documentary It's Criminal, directed and produced by Signe Taylor, which catalogs the experience of one TMS Program in 2010. These screenings, which are each accompanied by a panel of TMS participants have been creating space for dialogue and social reflection around the world. Finally, the founder of Telling My Story, Pati Hernandez has created and leads facilitator training workshops to further disseminate the methods of Telling My Story throughout our community.
Our 2019 End of Year Fundraiser is raising money to further expand our reach, sponsor facilitator trainings out in the larger community, and make future film screenings possible!
