Path of Miracles: Performance in Los Angeles

"Here is a miracle. That we are here is a miracle..."

In June 2022, I had the privilege of singing Joby Talbot's Path of Miracles with the Detroit-based ensemble, Audivi. This intensely profound choral work illustrates the medieval pilgrimage from Roncesvalles to Santiago de Compostela, and utilizes nine different languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Basque, Occitan, Latin, and Medieval Galician. Tenebrae, the UK-based ensemble that commissioned Talbot, premiered the work in 2005. Their recording can be found here.

Performing this music was far beyond memorable. Path has the power to connect us to our community by creating a musical kaleidoscope that represents the human experience through language, chant, and folk song. This piece left me feeling closer to my fellow singers –– even though we were only together for a week. It was also my first exposure to learning about the rich history of the Camino de Santiago, and the first time a piece of music moved me to such a deep degree in hopes of planning my journey on the Camino.

Path of Miracles is a musical masterwork worth sharing with everyone.

On May 26th, 2023, I will be conducting a performance of Path of Miracles with a group of 17 professional singers and a percussionist at All Saints' Church in Beverly Hills. Funds raised will go towards compensating the artists and covering production costs, including A/V and copyright. Any donation will help.

As this is an independent project, there is a possibility of not meeting that goal. We are working hard to make sure this doesn't happen, but in the event our goal is not met, funds will be held until enough is raised for a postponed performance.
