Help Save Maya’s Life

Hi! I’m Emily. I have 4 sons. When they started asking for a sister in 2020 and the world was crazy from Covid-19, we adopted a Seal Point Siamese from Ohio named Kora. A year later, we added a second Siamese baby to the family… Maya. She is now 11 months old and she is a registered Blue Point Siamese. Obviously my boys are in love with both cats and the cats have grown very close with each other. Last week, my household tested positive for Covid, I was in a car accident in my rental, and we found Maya in a comatose-like state. She is admitted in the ICU at AVets in Monroeville, PA. No vets around had any openings for at least 3 days, so I had no other choice, but to take her there. I can’t bring myself to put down an 11 month old kitten who has brought so much love to our home. She is the sweetest cat I’ve known and is constantly purring. She is an indoor, fully vaccinated, spayed and chipped cat who was otherwise perfectly healthy and full of life. The vet called and said her sugar was severely low, blood pressure was low, her electrolytes were at unsafe levels, her potassium was high, lactate was high, creatinine was high, and she was severely dehydrated. They found a bowel obstruction and believed she was septic. Her kidney function was also low. They are doing all they can to save her life. She required many medications, fluids and a feeding tube. She was admitted into the ICU. She required surgery to survive. I was able to come up with deposit for that. They got her prepped for the surgery and she made it out! No perforation and they were able to remove the obstruction. She was doing so well. She was taken off some of the medications and she was even standing and eating on her own again. She was pretty stable. A day later, she started expressing neurological problems. Certain tics, not able to see or stand well, and meowing as if she were confused. With an MRI being between $3,000-$4,000, I had to decline. The neurologist suspected a blood clot and we started 2 medications for that. The next day, she had a seizure. We started a medication for that… Maya is not herself right now, but we are trying to keep her comfortable and find some answers to get her back to or at least close to her baseline. My bill is currently at $9,311… I am also currently off of work without pay due to Covid hitting my house and I do not qualify for Care Credit. If at all possible, please help bring our fur baby home to our family with the answers and treatment we desperately need.
