Patches Amputation

On February 9th, we adopted Patches: a sweet, shy little Jack Russell/Chihuahua Mix from a local rescue. We picked her up from a foster home and told Patches we were taking her to her forever home. We arrived home and were getting her out of the car when Patches backed out of the harness and took off! We immediately started to search for her. Within a few hours, we received a call from Naperville Animal Hospital saying that Patches was hit by a car and was brought to them for treatment by a Naperville Police Officer. We were devastated!
We rushed to Naperville Animal Hospital hoping that our girl would be okay. We were told that she sustained some severed injuries & would need to have a rear leg amputated.
We wanted to do whatever we could for our Patches. We weren’t expecting to have a large medical expense on the day we adopted her. We called the rescue to see if they would help with the medical expenses. Unfortunately, the rescue director gave us two options. Surrender her back to us and we’ll take care of her treatment costs, but you’ll be put on the Do Not Adopt list. Or you figure out a way to pay for the expenses. We had to make the decision within a day. We loved her and knew we had to find a way to pay for her surgery. Patches just had her successful amputation surgery and is the cutest tripaw we’ve every seen! The estimate for her surgery is $2300.
Any help towards Patches medical bill would be greatly appreciated. We are seriously blessed that she was found alive and is clearly a fighter.
