Last week a good friend, Pat Barker, went to see his doctor because he wasn't feeling well. In a matter of hours he was in the ICU at Floyd Memorial Hospital diagnosed with pneumococcal pneumonia. He was septic and his organs were already shutting down. He was placed on a ventilator, continuous dialysis and several IV antibiotics and blood pressure drips just to keep him alive. We didn't think he was going to make it and while he is much better today, he is still in the ICU and not out of the woods by any means.
Pat is, without a doubt, one of the biggest hearted people I know. He loves his family and friends and would do anything in the world for them. I found out firsthand about Pat's giving soul when my husband passed away suddenly 13 years ago. Pat and the rest of my husband's friends did anything they could to help me. All I had to do is ask and they were there.
I would like to repay Pat's kindness at this difficult time in his life and help relieve the financial stress the family will definitely be going through. Medical bills, Christmas and the fact that Pat is the breadwinner of the family are the reasons I am asking for your help.
It is amazing how quickly our lives can change in a day, an hour, a second. I know firsthand. Nobody is prepared for this catastrophic event but when many people pitch in to help it makes it so much less stressful. Please help if you can.
Thanks from the bottom of my heart!
