The title says, "tell your story." But it's impossible to start. Does the story begin when my mom and dad met, 52 years ago? When they moved from Philly to California in 1976 to start a new adventure? Does it start when my mom was born in 1944, growing up the oldest of six kids, when she took on the responsibility of helping raise her siblings?
This part of the story began on July 10th when my mom was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Assuming she was going in for a somewhat routine biopsy, over the next four months my mom's health declined. At the end she was unable to speak, to see, to walk, or to eat on her own. It was tragic.
The story that began on October 31st, the day of her death, is the story of my dad, living as a widower, on his own. Walking a path he hasn't known since he was 18, when he married my mom. This request is on his behalf. My dad is living on social security and now facing months of hospital bills. It pains me that I can't help him more myself.
We are proud people and setting up something like this is painful. But I also know that we have a circle of friends and family who want to help, and hopefully something like this is welcomed, so that you have a way to help my dad.
If we are able to raise this amount, even just to cover her funeral, I will feel like I've done something huge to help my dad. And I will be forever indebted to all of you, who have given us endless support.
Thank you.
