Hello!
We are Amelia and Lauren, and we’re planning to explore northern Patagonia on horseback this winter. The idea began when our passion for horses, nature, human connection and adventure collided. What better place to realize this than Argentina, the country that brings the world gauchos and one of the longest horse traditions in the world?
Our basic plan: purchase three horses, two for riding and one for packing, and begin near Bariloche. We anticipate a bit of troubleshooting as we find the right horses, get to know them, figure out what gear is essential, and get used to the area. From there, we will ride several hundred kilometers, exploring the region’s mountains, rivers, and estancias.
Along the way, we’ll document what goes into planning and executing a trip like this. Between the two of us, we’ve lived and worked around the world and in some remote spots. But we want to find out what it takes to organize a trip like this on our own. We've already come into contact with wonderful people who are helping make this possible. One goal is to share our journey in case it helps someone else go after their own dream!
The second bit of documentation will capture the experience — the horses, the people, the landscape. We’re going with open minds and an open schedule and want to let our connections with people guide our time there.
Most importantly, our horses and their well-being will be our top priority from start to finish.
The estimated budget accounts for three horses, their tack and gear, and monthly costs we anticipate for feed, lodging, and expenses such as farriers. We want to buy healthy horses, keep them healthy, and ensure they have good homes when we finish!

But it’s not just a one-time ride.
We plan to combine our collective experience in conservation, community engagement and living abroad to facilitate trips for adventurous people! At the core, we believe in travel that strengthens connections between people, and between people and the natural world.
Keep an eye out as our travel business develops with future itineraries or reach out with exciting ideas. We’ve already got connections in Mexico, Colombia, Tanzania, and soon Argentina! We believe exploration, slow and integrated travel, and direct ties to local communities are best when shared.
In the meantime, stay tuned as we prep for and head out on our ride. We can’t wait to share the journey and are open to all suggestions, questions, and conversations before, during, and after our trip!
