To all the wonderful friends and loved ones of Pat Miller, I am asking for your help. In doing so I am hopeful that your compassion, love and respect for her will inspire you to make a difference - to and for her! Pat has always prided herself as being independent and hardworking. Unfortunately her health and current circumstances do not allow her that ability. It is humbling to admit for all of us that we aren't able to maintain the same levels of stress and physical demands that we once could - this is when we need our friends and family the most.
Some of you may know the intimate details of the last 2 1/2 years of Pat's life and the challenges she has faced with her declining health … and some are learning this by reading on. In May, Pat celebrated her 75th birthday - she felt honored to have survived the last few years given her recent health scares. In late 2015 she suffered a massive subarachnoid hemorrhage and was hospitalized for two weeks. She spent most of 2016 rehabilitating not only her body but her mind as well.
Finally, in 2017 she began working again, part-time at Lotusland. For a while it seemed as though she was on the road to regaining the stellar health of her youth. In February of this year she learned she had a 90% blockage that required a coronary artery stent. However, further complications came to light. On August 28 she will undergo Mitral Valve heart surgery at Cedars-Sinai. Now she is facing the challenges of recovering physically, mentally, emotionally and yes financially... this is why I am reaching out to encourage you to make a donation for Pat's recovery. Your generosity will help fund her living expenses for the areas that insurance doesn't cover - rent, utilities and the monthly expenses that we all have regardless if we are bound to a facility or at home while recuperating.
The Goal is to provide enough security to allow Pat to recover with peace that her expenses have been taken care of for a few months while she focuses on regaining her health, and taking back her life as she once knew it.
