Pat Somerville - Please Help Our Brother Recover from Stroke

Hi, name is AnnMarie. My sister MJ and I are fundraising for our brother Pat.

As many of you know, our brother Pat met the love of his life, Siou Ling, married her and moved to Taiwan in April. Sadly, Pat had a stroke earlier this month.

Pat is getting medical care - Taiwan has excellent health care. He is comfortable and is being well cared for by Siou Ling. While he is showing improvement, he has long road of recovery ahead of him.

Taiwan has a great health care system - similar to OHIP but much better. Unfortunately, Pat is unable to even apply for this coverage until he has been a resident for 6 months which takes us to late November. Until he gets that coverage, every medical cost is out of pocket (prescriptions, tests/scans/xrays, Doctor consultations, rehab therapists). Each weekly visit is currently about $1,000 CDN and this is prior to rehab therapists.

Siou Ling has been unable to work while she is providing 24 hour care for Pat and will continue to provide this care until Pat is able to be alone. With neither of them able to work, the costs of life are also piling up.

It was difficult to make the decision to use the Go Fund Me service but we, and Pat, are in dire straits. The Somerville family is eternally grateful for any amount of support you can donate to help our brother and his wife manage through this difficult time.
