Pat Silfies-Liberto of Bath, PA Home Fire Expenses

Donation protected
Tragically, at 8:39 AM yesterday, Pat Silfies' life was turned upside down in the blink of an eye.  It was at that moment Pat realized that the other half of the twin hime she resided in was engulfed in fire.  Pat was able to get safely out of her half of the home with not much more than her car keys, a couple of medications and the clothes on her back.  For that she, her family, and friends are all eternally grateful!  On the other half of the home, there were multiple injuries and sad to say animals that perished.  A separate GoFundMe account has been set up by the family of the tenants on the other half of the house.

Having lived almost my entire life in Bath, my family has always lived across the small alley from Pat's house.  Before Pat, her mom and dad raised their family in that house.  So this more than hit home for me when I heard the news.  When we got up to see Pat in the early afternoon yesterday and to see the damage, we were brought to tears.  She was told and official report on the cause will take about a month according to fire authorities.  In the meantime, the Red Cross is assisting her with finding temporary shelter in coordination with her insurance company.  But even with insurance and the assistance of good will agencies, Pat is going to need so many things in the coming weeks and months, most notably and most expensive are her medications that were lost in the fire.  We all hope that the insurance companies can get these costs covered, but until they do, she will need to pay out of pocket for those things.  She will also need clothes.  She left her home with just the clothes on her back.  She is also going to have the unexpected deductible for her homeowner's insurance and with the way that building codes are written today, there may be expenses that they will not cover.  You see, this early 1900's structure, now that it is damaged, needs to be brought all of the way back up to current building code.  Depending on how the insurance company interprets her policy, that could mean $10's of thousands of dollars out of Pat's pocket which she never had a chance to prepare for.

So I am here to ask you as a resident of Bath, PA, the Lehigh Valley, Eastern PA, or just a person with a good soul to please help my friend Pat to face this rebuilding process with a little less worry about the expenses that lie ahead in the days, weeks, and months to come.  I have set a goal of $10,000 for this fundraiser.  I do believe that it is a reasonable expectation of expenses that may lie ahead for her.  100% of all funds collected will be given directly to her to help her directly!  Know that anything you can give is helpful.  I would also ask that you share this post with your friends and neighbors and most importantly, keep Pat and her neighbors in your prayers!

Any funds over and above her expenses will be equally distributed between all of the responding Fire and EMS units on scene yesterday!  Without their selfless acts of bravery, this very well could have been so much worse!
