Pat Pearson Surgery Recuperation

Popular San Luis Obispo guitarist and music teacher Patrick Pearson is having shoulder surgery on February 7, 2023. The doctors tell us what follows is four months of rest and physical rehab.

During his convalescence, Pat's sole source of income as a performer and teacher is on hold. (The Doctors have told Pat that he can continue giving some classes but at a significantly reduced workload. His income will be a fraction of what he typically makes. )

Pat’s family members are rearranging their own work lives to be as available as possible for Pat and his minor son, Jude.

Pat injured his shoulder some years ago as a young father teaching his son how to skateboard. He had surgery, and the pain subsided, but gradually came back with greater intensity.

He's been playing through increasing pain for years now, and the doctors have told him that he can't put off surgery any longer. The thick piece of tissue attached to the rim of the shoulder socket that helps keep the ball of the joint in place - the labrum - has torn nearly completely off the bone and the shoulder is very subluxated. The condition is deteriorating rapidly, and he must get this operation now if he is to have any future as a musician.

Pat's been performing and teaching guitar, bass guitar, piano, drums, banjo and ukulele for over 30 years. He has performed hundreds of times at nearly all of the live music venues in San Luis Obispo and has given music lessons to thousands.

Pat has a huge heart and has always been willing to share his musicality and experience. After giving immense joy to so many with his performances and teaching, Pat now needs our help so that he can get back to living his passion - bringing music to our lives.

Pat lives and breathes music. He could not fully live in any other role. Making and teaching music is Pat's true nature - and only source of income.

Please help Pat pay his bills and support his family through the four months of recuperation that follow his surgery.
