Please Support Pat Through Medical Crisis Following Accident

As a kidney donor and local tennis/pickleball teacher and professional, Pat is used to helping others, volunteering and getting involved. Following a life and livelihood threatening accident, Pat now finds himself in need of support from family, friends, colleagues and caring donors.

Pat was hit by an elderly, extremely under-insured motorist. He suffered very serious injuries including: damage to his one remaining kidney, 8 shattered ribs, a broken nose, broken eye socket, punctured lung, and a brain injury.

He received life-saving care for just under a month at the Gulf Coast Medical Trauma Center and at a hospital in downtown Fort Myers, Florida before being allowed to return home with the assistance of a home health care team. However, shortly after his release from the hospital, Pat’s home health care nurse entered his home and found that he was struggling to breathe. She immediately called 911 and he was transported back to the Gulf Coast Trauma Center where doctors discovered that his lungs had filled with blood. Further medical complications required him to spend another week in the trauma center.

Thankfully, under the continued care of his medical team, Pat has been able to return home again, but the seriousness and extent of Pat’s injuries have made it impossible for him to return to work doing what he loves the most: Teaching Tennis and Pickleball. His recovery has been difficult with many setbacks along the way. He is still facing a very challenging recovery ahead and will be out of work for 6 months. The elderly woman who hit him only had 10k in insurance and Pat’s current medical bills are in the 100’s of thousands of dollars. With no income coming in, it has been very stressful.
