Hi there, Lee Sheridan from Luain Press here. Established in 2022, we promote the work of emerging artists and writers. Though we tend to focus on written poetry, we also believe in the power and beauty of the spoken word.
Pat Ingoldsby (25 August 1942 – 1 March 2025) was an Irish poet and television presenter. He initiated and hosted children's television shows that became hugely popular, performed his poems in venues throughout Ireland, wrote plays for the stage and for radio, published books of short stories for children, and was a newspaper columnist. From the mid-1990s, he withdrew from the mass media and was most widely known for his collections of poetry, and his selling of them on the streets of Dublin (usually on Westmoreland Street or College Green).
Following Pat's death earlier this year, we want to celebrate his life and work by creating a spoken word album, One Good Sparkle, based on 16 of his poems. These poems will be set to music by composer, Philip May, and be read by some of Ireland's most renowned spoken word artists including Imelda May, Stephen James Smith, Anna D., Jan Brierton, Emmet O'Brien, Daragh Fleming, Mikey Cullen, Annie Peter, Holly Hughes, Leon Dunne, Ryan Duggins, Steve O'Toole and Stephen Maguire. There will also be original recordings of Pat too!
But we can't do it without you. We're looking for €6000 to make this dream a reality. This amount will cover contributor fees and distribution costs. The album will also be released on Spotify!
So please, if you can spare any amount, just know that it will be a massive help. Do it for Pat!
