About PATRICK FAIRLEE
On March 28th of this year we almost lost one of our most heartful, generous men in Scotts Valley, Pat Fairlee. Anyone who’s spent much time around Pat has watched him always working hard at being a helpful person, improving each situation he’s involved in. I’ve always been amazed at Pat’s persistence in wanting to make a difference, he’s an “over-giver” in his own way.
Patrick was terribly injured six months ago when a driver made an illegal U-turn, colliding with him while he was on his motorcycle. His back, pelvis, arm, leg and ribs were broken. He had major internal injuries and had to be hospitalized for three months. Now Pat is miraculously off of dialysis and his kidneys are working again. He is still in a post-acute hospital in Roseville. He has had seven major surgeries, including amputation of his lower leg and foot.
It is the greatest blessing, and absolutely amazing, that Pat made it. It is even more amazing that he maintains a good outlook on life. I don’t know many of us who could pull that off, given what Pat has had to go through.
I’ve spent over 15 years with Pat assisting me as an unpaid volunteer, helping with prescribed burning projects and other ecological restoration work. He spent the night of July 27, 2018 on the River Wildfire with me, pushing dirt into flames with a skidsteer loader along side my bulldozer. Everyone else in the area had bailed for safety, but not Pat…..
So what’s this GOFUNDME fundraiser for?
Pat and his wife Liz have hit the wall financially. While their insurances have covered most of the medical bills, they have exhausted all of their savings and reserves. Liz is currently unable to work: She has a badly degenerated hip joint, and is still recovering from emergency perforated ulcer surgery. Through all of this, there have been large expenses from making many dozens of trips to see and support Pat in out-of-town hospitals.
Basically, Pat and Liz badly need our help until they can get back on their feet, to sustain Pat’s healing and for subsistence of the family. It is hoped that Pat will be walking and home by Christmas. Hopefully Liz will get her hip surgery this winter.
Please help them out as much as you are able. This GOFUNDME fundraiser goes directly to Pat and Liz. I’ve chosen this platform as it is reputable, user-friendly and of zero-cost to the family.
