Loosing a loved one to cancer is heart wrenching and our Mother was no exception. Wendi and I are heartbroken at the loss of our mother, friend, shoulder to cry on, confidant and mentor. She was defiant in the face of cancer and fought for every second of life she could get. Only with Wendi and family by her side did she finally allow God to take her into His gentle arms where, certainly, dozens of family members patiently waited her arrival into heaven. She is at peace and surrounded by love, it is us who continue to feel her loss and mourn her passing.
I remember my mom's first bird, a baby African Grey. This bird was wrinkly, had no feathers and would not stop screeching. I remember thinking it was the ugliest thing I had ever seen, not really knowing what African Grey's looked like as newborns. But not our mother, she was in love from the first moment. Even though she also did not know much about raising parrots, she was a relentless student and successfully raised this bird to its full potential loving every step along the way.
As you know mom went on to launch her company, The Beak, where she raised large and small parrots of every type. She became well known as an expert in the field and customers would come from all over the country to own one of her birds. I truly think handing over one of her babies to a loving family was one of her true joys in life.
Our mom did not want much in terms of a funeral or memorial, although we will have one locally anyway. :). She did, however, want a bench donated in her honor with the inscription "Enjoy The Birds" written on it.
We would love for you all to be part of this lasting tribute to our mother, Pat Bush and her love for all things feathered. In-lieu of flowers or donations we would ask you to participate in bringing to life our mother's final wish.
All gifts will be handled by Wendi and myself (Tim) to secure a bench and a place where it will serve the public well.
Thank you all for being part of our mother's life and touching her with your kindness, love and friendship.
With much love,
Timothy Bush and Wendi Koshley
