Pat Bohlen Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Michelle and I have had the pleasure of having Patricia (Mimi) as my 2nd momma since her daughter Brandy and I were in high school together. Pat has given so much to friends and family over the years, and now she needs our help! Her granddaughter, Sierra, her other bonus daughter Cara, and I are asking for help on behalf of the family.
On Easter Sunday, March 31st, 2024, Patricia suffered a cardiac arrest. If it were not for her grandson Ryder, who arrived home to find her unresponsive, started CPR, and called an ambulance, she might no longer be with us.
The ambulance took her to OSF in Urbana who then transferred her to OSF in Peoria via ambulance again. Brandy has not left her side and does not have enough PTO to be off this long and Pat’s grandkids don't either. Brandy has slept at the hospital in a chair, and eaten when she can trying to stay by Pat’s side.
Once Pat got to Peoria, the doctors did an angiogram. She had 95% blockage in a back artery and they put a stent in. There is 40% blockage in another. He said her heart is very weak. Doctors are thinking a pacemaker may be in the near future, possibly. She is on meds for pain. The Neurology team evaluated her and said she didn't have a stroke and any seizure she may have had were caused by the cardiac arrest. She is still very weak and she will not be able to live alone, do daily tasks, or make any financial decisions alone for a while. Driving is out for a while as well, as her focus will be on regaining her health and strength to walk and do daily activities.
Pat is still very unsteady. At one point she collapsed while trying to stand with the help of a walker. The room was full of help immediately, and they brought a crash cart and pastoral care. Pat came to, and they then did an ekg. Thank goodness it was not another heart episode. In the end they think it was a drop in blood pressure that caused her to pass out. All of this so scary for Pat, Brandy and the grandchildren!
A lot of us just don't know how to help but want to help, which is why I am starting this fund. Pat will have some medical bills when she is released and doctors have been suggesting that she will need extensive after care, even possibly 24 hour care for a while at home or in a facility.
If you can donate, please do. Every little bit helps and they are such a close family. Mimi is sure proud of her grands and great-grands and Brandy as well. And if you know Pat, she has probably helped you out a time or two, and you know she would give the shirt off of her back to help anyone in need.
If you cannot donate, please share.
AND KEEP THOSE PRAYERS COMING!
