Pastor Charles Lott Flood Relief

Donation protected

My name is David Lott, missionary in Guatemala, Central America, sent out by Faith Baptist Church in Temple, TX. (I'm on the left next to my parents in the photo above.)

As you know, Hurricane Harvey has done more damage than can be imagined.

My father, Charles Lott, has been pastoring Grace Baptist Church (which is independent Baptist church) for over 40 years.  It is a small church that has about 30 or so members. The church building apparently was not damaged at all—“high and dry,” as they say. However, my parents’ house is a completely different story. Most of the house was flooded with over a foot of water and the converted garage with almost 3 feet of water.

Although they have insurance on the house, it does not cover flooding, which all of the damage was due to the rising water. Carpets, flooring, sheetrock, cabinets, most furniture are all completely ruined. In addition, because of the rising water, they had to leave their only vehicle behind, which was ruined/destroyed by the flood waters. They think they will be able to salvage most clothes and keepsakes, but that is yet to be seen.

Practically speaking THEY HAVE LOST EVERYTHING!

Although they signed up several days ago to “get in line,” at this point FEMA adjusters have not even been in their part of town. To what extent any government help will eventually be supplied is also yet to be seen.

On top of all of this, my parents will be turning 73 years old this month, and neither is in good health. My father has been battling Parkinson’s disease for three years now, which affects his motor skills, vision, walking, sleep, and at times causes confusion. My mother, Sarah, has several health issues that affect her in different ways at different times. This has been a huge “blow” for both of them!

Therefore, I would like to ask you to do two things:

First of all, PLEASE PRAY FOR THEM!

God, above all, is the one who can better take care of their needs than the government, family or any others. Not only are their immediate material needs a factor, but as Paul said, “ Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches”—or in this case “the church members.”

Second, CONSIDER GIVING TO THEM!

I have started the amount at $20,000.00. Obviously this is a "drop in the bucket" for replacement costs of what has been lost, but it might help them get started with a vehicle and some other immediate needs. Total replacement of property lost may be 3-4 times the amount mentioned, but this is a starting place.

Any gift you can give ($1, $5, $20 or more) will be greatly appreciated and acknowledged by me personally where possible.

I will try to update this page with more pictures and information as I can get them from other family members.

ALL FUNDS (EVERY PENNY) WILL GO DIRECTLY TO CHARLES AND SARAH LOTT!  Funds will be transferred to them weekly as they are received.

Thank you for your consideration of this need.

God bless you,

Missionary David Lott
