Pastor Taurino Funeral expenses

Dear giver,

2020 was a devastating year all around for everyone. Many of us lost jobs, homes, and got sick but got through to see another year. We all know of someone who got covid or passed from covid. But we never expect it's going to affect our closest loved ones. It is with great pain to my family that our father passed away at Alvarado Hospital on 2/1/2021 from covid 19, after three weeks of intense battle.

Taurino Rivera was born in 1963 In Mexico. As a youth he migrated to the U.S. to work as a field worker to support his young family back in Oaxaca, Mex. In 1992 he decided to relocate my mother and their children to San Diego, CA. Our new beginning in San Diego was rough like any other immigrant family. By the Grace of God, we received a knock at our door by an elegant brother inviting us to a church service up our street. Since then we never looked back.

You might know my dad as Pastor Taurino from Fe, Esperanza y Amor Christian Church in East San Diego, CA. A servant that no words can do justice. Anyone who knew Pastor will tell you how big a force of good he was in their lives & community. I was a child when dad would take us along to sing worship songs in people’s homes. Sunday service was our family fun day. On one of those Sunday services Dad stepped up to welcome a leadership calling. By 2006 he became a co-pastor. In 2009 along with his Pastor Rev. Xose G. Escamilla prepared for 2 years to launch the vision that God had placed in Him 1998 when he was hospitalized for 28 days in UCSD Hospital. His calling was full circled in 2011 when his church was inaugurated on October 20th, 2011 in East San Diego,

To most people Dad was a caring humble devoted Pastor of Christ. To us, his family he was our hero. Our great moral compass. A faithful husband to our mother who is also fighting Covid-19 in the hospital. When dad was not out reaching souls for Christ he was with us, watching movies, playing with his seven grandchildren, preparing meals for dinner. Always praying and blessing us every opportunity he got.

As his son, I have started a fundraiser to help cover the cost of everything related to his funeral and other related expenses. Our family was not prepared for this unexpected loss as the pandemic looms large. In these difficult times we are reaching out to our community for help to cover these unexpected expenses.

The fundraiser can be found here:       Please consider donating if you can, as any amount will truly help. We need to raise $20,000 by February 18 in order to cover all expenses.

It would mean a lot if you could share Pastor Taurino’s fundraiser with others who knew him.

Thank you so much for your consideration. On behalf of my whole family we thank you with heavy hearts. We keep praying for all families who have lost a loved one to this invisible enemy but are hopeful that God will use our departed ones for his perfect plan.

Yours truly, Daniel Rivera & family
