Pastor Joseph Jun’s back Surgery

Donation protected
Dear Friends & Family,

My brother, Joe, was recently seen by more than five spine specialists, and was told that he needs to have back surgery.

He has a condition called Spondylolisthesis. Doctors told him that it could have been a congenital spine condition from birth, that gets worse in people who do sports such as gymnastics or football. In my brother’s case, he played football all throughout High School, so all the hits and the hyperextension of his back didn’t help his case. He’s lived with back pain most of his life, but manageable with medicine. However, starting last year, it became hard for him to get out of bed, walk, exercise, or even drive for more than 20 minutes. On some days, he literally had to roll his body out of bed and drag his leg in order to move.

He luckily found a great doctor in Philadelphia to perform the surgery which consists of scraping out two of his herniated discs and putting in spacers to fill that area, 2 bars and 4 screws. It is a spinal fusion surgery on his L5 and S1.

Recovery in bed will take about 10-12 weeks, but 70% recovery will take 1 year and 100% recovery will take 2 years.

Some of you may know, but starting in his early 20s, Joe left home to serve youth students in churches and mission fields such as Chicago, Canada, Mexico, Panama and Philadelphia. He is married with an adorable 3-year-old daughter named Faith, and another baby on the way. While Joe is recovering from the back surgery, for 12 weeks, he and his wife will be out of work.
They received great news that his Church (Antioch) will be giving him sick pay during his leave, but his wife who brings in majority of the income will not be getting paid for the 3 months of Family Medical Leave.

Joe’s income will pay for their rent and insurance, but they still need to pay for the surgery which will cost about $8,500 out of pocket, after insurance.
This is why I decided to start this GoFundMe page. If you could help, even with $10-20 dollars, I’m sure Joe’s family will be super grateful and your support will go a long way.

I know that everyone’s budget is tight in the New Year with Christmas & Holiday bills, so “Thank You” for considering to donate, and if you do offer your support, our family thanks you from the bottom of our heart.

Even if you can’t support financially, please support my brother with your prayers for a successful surgery and recovery.

Thank you and Happy Holidays, everyone!
