After twelve and a half years of ordained pastoral ministry, I am ready for a break. I have served First Presbyterian Church in Petaluma, CA, for nine years. It’s a small congregation with a big heart but limited financial resources. So, I’m turning to my broader community to ask if you might prayerfully consider sponsoring me on one part of my sabbatical: the Camino Portugués, a five-week, 500-mile walk from Lisbon, Portugal, to Santiago, Spain, and then concluding my journey in the small coastal village of Finisterre.

I will bring only what I can fit in my backpack, buying my meals along the way, and will stay each night in albergues (communal dorms specifically for pilgrims).

I turn 50 years old next year and this 500-mile pilgrimage will allow me time to break away from the normal rhythms of church life to reflect upon my five decades of life and ministry and to dream about the years to come.

Funds will primarily go towards airfare, local lodging, meals, and hiking gear. Anything you contribute will be a big help!
