Pastor Gary Schneider

Hi, my name is Jessica Thorn, and I am the daughter of Gary Schneider. Due to the outpouring of love and support, I am creating this gofund me as I have received many messages asking about donating to my parents or sending gift cards.

On 9-30-22, my dad was enjoying, what was supposed to be, his last full day vacationing with my Mom. They had been staying with friends in the Hilton Head area. While enjoying the beautiful weather, he decided to go for a bike ride around their neighborhood. Freakishly, a tree fell on him. There were no storms or strong winds when he left the house. My mom and their friends realized Dad had been gone quite a while. He did not have his wallet or phone. Mom went out looking for him, and she saw a tree down. She got this terrible feeling. When she returned back to their friends house, their was a police officer out front. We are unsure how they knew where dad was staying, but we are grateful they figured it out!

Dad was taken to a trauma hospital in Savannah, Georgia. He is in ICU in a medically induced coma while they figure out his medical care plan. As of now, he has suffered three brain bleeds and multiple fractures/compound fractures in his foot/ankle, which have already required a couple of surgeries, and more are going to be needed. He has a burst fracture to his vertebrae, and at this time, they are trying to determine if they need to operate or stabilize his vertebrae. He has multiple broken ribs and scapula. My dad stays in the hospital for a minimum of five days, but it could be longer as things continue to be found.

The airline would not allow my mom to cancel her flight, so she had to book another flight weeks from now. Even after getting out of the hospital, he will require another surgery on his foot/ankle. He cannot apply pressure to his right leg for a minimum of three months.

My parents have not asked for help, but with hospital stays, surgeries, rehab, upcoming appointments, and anything else this injury may throw at us, I wanted to create this as maybe a small way of helping through this terrible time. We appreciate all of you who have reached out and continue to reach out asking how you can help; you all are so kind, considerate, and loving. It makes it a little easier knowing how much my Family is loved throughout this challenging time.
