Passing of our beloved Karen Alston
Donation protected
Dear Friends + Family,
We are absolutely devastated by Karen's sudden passing. Karen was a beautiful soul with the most wonderful energy, always happy + dancing, spreading positivity to anyone who crossed her path. She was my best childhood friend and has been in my life for 31 years. She was like a sister to me. She touched so many lives and was always a ray of sunshine. Her laugh was amazing and contagious. Unfortunately, Karen suddenly went into cardiac arrest, and although paramedics worked hard to revive her heart, she never regained consciousness. The damage to her brain was too severe and irreversible.
She is leaving behind her 17 year old son, Ilan, her mommy, 2 older sisters, nieces, nephews, many family members + loved ones who loved her dearly.
We would appreciate any help you can provide for funeral costs and to help her son Ilan. If you are not in a position to help financially, please keep this wonderful family in your thoughts + prayers. Any support is appreciated by the family.
With Love + Gratitude,
Cathy Whealon
God Bless all of you and RIP my forever sister. We love you Karen!
Here are some words from her Mommy Vernell and oldest sister Tracy:
From Tracy Thompson:
It is with great sadness that I inform you that my little sister Karen, my #1 Dommie, my best friend, has passed away. She suddenly went into cardiac arrest, and although paramedics worked hard to revive her heart, she never regained consciousness. The doctors had been working hard to save her, but the damage to her brain was just too much and irreversible. To say that my family is devastated is an understatement. My sister LOVED being around her family and friends, and was always the life of the party. She was the epitome of what a little sister is, and literally a fixture at my house. Always coming over for food, drinks, or whatever else I had, she was always ready to start the dance party, playing around with her nieces, or just hanging out and talking sometimes. She especially loved it when I taught her how to cook something. I can’t imagine life without her, we have been inseparable since the day she was born, she was “my baby” from that day on. I loved my little sister, and she loved her big sister. She was my my #1 cheerleader and always had my back no matter what. My kids loved their aunt KK, she was a true FUNT (fun aunt), and they wanted her to come everywhere with us, whether it be the pool, amusement park or a vacation.
We sincerely thank everyone that was praying for my little sister to recover from this, we know how much she was truly loved. Please continue to keep my mom, Vernell, and her precious son, Ilan, in your thoughts and prayer.
Rest in Paradise my #1 Dommie, Lil’ KK, Karen Desiree Alston. Gone but will never be forgotten.
From Karen's Mom, Vernell Alston:
Today is a sad day for me and my family. My Sweetheart, Baby Girl, Karen, didn't wake up! She passed away this afternoon after suffering a heart attack! This is not the way it supposed to be; I never expected to have to bury my child! But I take comfort in the fact that she was an organ donor and may be able to save someone else's son or daughter's life! I have a lot of support from family and friends and will be the best Grand (Mom) that I can be to her son, Ilan. Please keep us in your prayers and thoughts as we go through this grieving process! I really appreciate everyone prayer for her, but I guess God was ready for her to join her Dad, Aunt, Uncle, Great Grandma, and other family members!
