Passing of JanCarlo Mendiola - Family Support

Sadly, one of our US Marine and Viasat brothers passed yesterday, 01 September 2020, and is now resting easy with those before us.  JanCarlo "JC" Mendiola is the epitome of what a true warrior and hero stands for, in today's modern world.  He was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia, in early 2019, and spent the past 1.75 years battling this beast head on, with dignity, pride and a smile from ear to ear.  The chemo and radiation treatments were tough on him and his loved ones, but he had so many things he still wanted to accomplish, said his wife RosaAna, and was sooo determined to not give up and be there for his wife and 2 children, Janae and Jerardo.

Although he didn't quite make it as far as we all hoped, JC passed peacefully, was comfortable and although not awake, his wife and children were able to be there and say their final goodbye.

For those of you who did not know him, Jan Carlo “JC” Mendiola, this husband and father of 2, proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Marine Infantry for 10 years.

In those 10 years, JC deployed 5 times to include combat deployments to Ramadi, Iraq and Marjah, Afghanistan. Ultimately achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant, JC served with 2nd Battalion 4th Marines as an infantry squad leader and later served as an Instructor at the School of Infantry for 3 years. Life after the Corps, quite a few of us got to know him over the past few years during his tenure as a committed Security team member (aka ViaSWAT) for Viasat, Inc.

For his family, friends, Marine and Viasat brothers/sisters, JC inspired us all and showed us what it really looks like to fight...fight with all your might, to the very end!  Even when the odds were against him, he still stood against the storm with his BAD @$$ wife, who was the rock for their family and there for him/their children through thick and thin.

We are creating this "Go Fund Me" in honor of JC and his inspirational journey, as well as to help his wife and children in these very difficult times ahead.  Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated, and to support a very great cause...to remember JC and help carry out his legacy.
