Paso Robles Family Devastated by Flood Waters
Donation protected
The destructive storm and flooding, which hit Paso Robles on January 9th/10th nearly decimated our dear friends Katie and Justin’s property.
That fateful morning, they raced against time and the fast-rising water, to evacuate their animals and possessions. Within hours, the river engulfed the heart of the property (reaching as high as 15-20 feet in some areas). The majority of their structures, supplies, equipment, fences, and trees were either destroyed or ripped away by the fast-moving river offshoot and debris that forged a new path *through* their property.
It is heartbreaking to see that after a decade of hard work, nearly everything perished in less than a day. As they are self-employed, this property is not only the source of their livelihood and a safe haven for their rescued animals. It is also a space where doors are always open to friends, family and people in need. Whoever knows Justin will know that he always goes out of his way to help those in need, unconditionally.
They are devastated but remain steadfast in the efforts to clean up, salvage, and move forward.
A loss of this magnitude was unforeseen. They estimate that approximately 2-3 acres will end up under a few inches to a few feet of mud and debris that will need to be dug out. If anyone can contribute monetarily, volunteer, or provide supplies, equipment or otherwise, the family would be eternally grateful.
