Pasha Ripley and Eli Bazan have spent years shielding children and families from hate. As co-founders of Parasol Patrol, they’ve stood on front lines—offering safety, love, and protection at LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC events across the country. They’ve weathered storms, faced down hate groups, and put themselves at risk to create safe spaces for others.
Now, it’s Pasha and Eli who need a shield.
Pasha was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She will need surgery and a long course of treatment, which means she won’t be able to work for months.
On May 5, tragedy struck again—Eli was hit by a semi-truck on the highway. Miraculously, he walked away after a full day in the ER. But the crash totaled their only car, which Eli used for delivery driving—his sole source of income. With only liability insurance, there’s no help to replace it.
Both Pasha and Eli are now unable to work, and they are facing the very real possibility of losing their housing, transportation, and financial stability.
These are two people who have always shown up for others. They’ve protected children from bullhorns and hate speech. They’ve counseled survivors of violence. They’ve created safe zones, led national advocacy efforts, and helped change laws to protect the most vulnerable.
Now it’s our turn to show up for them.
