Party Blackly Activation Fund

Hey Party Gang,

Can you believe it's been five years since we launched Party Blackly? To celebrate, we are launching The Party Blackly Activation Fund to jumpstart our creative & social impact activations for 2023-2024.

We are campaigning to raise $10,000 by February 1, 2024.

Anti-Gentrification Displacement Tours

Party Blackly was recently selected as a 2022 SXSW Future of Music Panel Picker Winner! On, March 14, we produced an official SXSW event in Austin, TX—Artists Protecting Black-Owned Venues & Spaces Meet Up. It was very successful, and as a result, we are continuing to spread the word across NYC and beyond.

We are uniting artists, music lovers, entrepreneurs & big thinkers to discuss the future of Black and POC-friendly music venues across major cities in post-pandemic America.

Party Blackly believes that artists have the power to mobilize community support to transform local legislation in protection of Black spaces. With the rise of gentrification across most major American cities, Black venue owners hosting multicultural events have been the target of direct and subversive tactics to push them out of historically Black neighborhoods. From “randomly selected” police raids to inflated lease renewal costs, the future of Black-owned venues as anchors of Black music culture remains precarious.

We are raising $2000 for travel & accommodations, programming costs, marketing and admin support!

The Black Hour Experience Tour

In 2018, Party Blackly launched The Black Hour, an experimental happy hour series bridging the gap between Black music artists/creatives, Black-owned businesses and the local legislation affecting Black communities in NYC. Party Blackly Executive Producer, and Artist Addy Salau noticed that music events she performed in drew in much larger audiences than community board meetings, so she figured, “why not bring them together?”

The Black Hour curates music playlist happy hours featuring music from local independent Black & POC artists, then activates music lovers & party-goers to advocate for local legislation that preserves Black-owned businesses. For example, Party Blackly has mobilized its audience to help pass NYC Bill #1156, calling for better transparency on NYPD-led NYC nightlife raids, disproportionately impacting BIPOC owned bars, clubs, and establishments. Party Blackly also curates unique & organic opportunities for local artists to connect with major music labels, radio programmers, sync/licensing agents and more.

We are raising $3000 in production funds to continue our happy hour series in 2024.

We are also raising $2500 to support one black-owned business and one independent artist with one full year of unlimited legal support and advisory.

Finally, we are raising $2500 to develop our Party Blackly "Black Hour" series, featuring BIPOC business owners facing the threat of displacement in NYC.

I appreciate your support! All amounts are helpful.

To thank you for your generosity, we are providing complimentary Party Blackly shirts (while supplies last) to donors who contribute $50 or more dollars to our fund. We will follow up with details upon receipt of the donation.
