How it all started...

Just over 5 years ago Elias was born via a c-section, and doctors found a few concerning mass and recommended an immediate colonoscopy. At about 2 weeks postpartum, Ryan and Siobhan were given the diagnosis of stage 4 colon cancer that had metastasized to her liver. Holding their newborn son, they were told about the severity of the diagnosis, statistics, and given a treatment plan that the team had created. In a season that was filled with the joy of a newborn baby, they were also wrecked at the intensity of the situation and filled with fear of what the future might bring.

The last 5 years have been filled with over 40 chemo treatments, multiple surgeries to her colon, liver and lungs as well as tests, various medications and natural treatments to fight cancer with every fiber of her being. What once started as a prayer to see Greta off to kindergarten (she will be in 3rd grade this year) has turned into less than a month away from seeing Elias (the little newborn they held 5 years ago) start kindergarten. What an incredible miracle and answer to prayer!

As we celebrate the time the Lord has given her, we also recognize that the past month has brought about significant changes to Siobhan's physical health and well-being. Her lungs are regularly filling with fluid and needing to be drained, she's experiencing much higher levels of pain, exhaustion is at an all time high and recent scans have shown that the cancer is growing at a more rapid rate than before. They have exhausted her treatment options. Her team has told her that at this pace she's looking at months and she was encouraged to transition to Hospice as soon as possible. Ryan and Siobhan recently sat down with their kids to share in greater clarity what the future brings, what a heartbreaking and devastating conversation. As you can read, it has been a lot to process in a short amount of time.

Many have asked how they can help and where they can donate.
This GoFundMe as well as her Venmo account (@kleinwsi) will be used to:
- Set up 529 College Savings for their kids
- Help with lost wages; Siobhan has been increasingly stepping away from employment. As Siobhan's needs increase, Ryan regularly needs to step away from his clinic to care for her and guide their kids through the grief process as well.
