From Brokenness to Purpose: Help Me Share God’s Love With the Nations

Hi everyone!

My name is Valerie Rios, a 19 year old with a mission!

I want to share a story that’s completely changed my life and led me to the journey I’m about to take. Growing up in a broken family, I didn’t understand what true, unconditional love was. I felt lost, searching for something to fill the emptiness inside me. For so long, I believed love was something you had to earn—and I never felt good enough to receive it.

But everything changed when I encountered God.

On June 30th, 2024, I made the best decision of my life: I was baptized and went public with my faith. For the first time, I felt the overwhelming, unconditional love of Jesus. A love that doesn’t depend on what I’ve done but on who He is. That moment didn’t just change me; it gave me a new purpose. Ever since, I’ve been on fire for God and deeply passionate about sharing His love with others—especially those who’ve never experienced it.

That’s why I’ve decided to join YWAM (Youth With A Mission), an organization that equips people to know God and make Him known. This program is designed to transform lives—starting with my own.

What is YWAM?

YWAM is a global Christian movement that trains and sends people to share the Gospel and serve communities in need. I’ll begin with a three-month Discipleship Training School (DTS) located in Kona, Hawaii, where I’ll grow deeper in my faith, learn to live out God’s Word, and prepare to serve others. After that, I’ll spend three months on outreach, traveling to a nation where people may have never even heard the name of Jesus.

During the outreach, I’ll be involved in:

• Sharing the Gospel with unreached people

• Supporting local churches and ministries

• Building relationships in communities

• Helping meet practical needs like education, health, and development

This isn’t just about me—it’s about bringing hope and healing to people who are searching for the same love I’ve found in Christ. There are so many out there who don’t know what it feels like to be truly loved, and I can’t ignore the call to go and share what I’ve been given.

But I can’t do this without you.

This mission is bigger than me. I was once lost, but now I’m found. I didn’t know what love felt like, but now I’m filled with God’s love, and I want to share it with people who need it most. Together, we can reach the unreached, bring light to dark places, and let people know they are loved by the God who created them.
