Yes, I'm Adopted. Don't Make It Weird...
Brett and Dave-O started a vlog for their independent production company back in 2016. They didn't realize then what a small, funny video about their experiences as adult adoptees would lead to. After National Adoption Month in 2018 their video was shared several thousand times and families impacted by adoption asked for more.
For the last nine months Brett and Dave-O have been creating a weekly web show, Yes, I'm Adopted. Don't Make It Weird, to discuss all adoption issues, with their unique blend of humor, (some) tact, and brutal honesty. They have reached thousands of families and have been working hard to provide hope and perspective to adoptees and adoptive families. They are now at the point where they would love to continue making the show and to grow their adoption community, but this will require your support.
With your help, in the next year they would like to...
- Localize, sort, and tag their videos on one website for easier accessibility.
- Begin a long form podcast talking about the specifics of healing and growth from an adoptee perspective.
- Dedicate time to community involvement, both online and in person, to answer questions and connect.
- Write a book.
- Launch other adoptees into their own platforms with professional production and content training.
- Not starve.
In order to continue and expand Yes, I'm Adopted. Don't Make It Weird, Brett and Dave-O need to be able to plan and budget the next year's worth of content around both their family's financial needs. To keep everyone relatively healthy and sane will require $12000.00 per year to keep the lights on and pay bills. They estimate that in order to grow and expand will require an additional $13000.00 to cover further production costs, equipment, content writing, and design work.
