My name is Athena Parnell and this story is about my AMAZING loving hard working husband who went to the emergency room last month for stomach pains and ended up being admitted into Kaiser Medical Center in Oregon into the Oncology because they had found abnormal blood cells in his blood. This led to a bone marrow biopsy which brought more bad news. He was diagnosed with MDS which is a form of blood cancer caused by the bone marrow not producing enough white blood cells. He is now doing chemotherapy and getting blood transfusions because his blood cell counts keep dropping more every day which is very bad. Along with his nutriel counts which caused Anemia. He is going to need a Bone marrow transplant after chemotherapy which may or may not work. If it fails it will progress into Acute myeloid leukemia.
Darryl is now unable to work because he is extremely susceptible to infection. He can't be around any germs.
This is a wonderful husband and father and grandfather who is very loved and we all need him. He is a AMAZING person who for many years of his life worked 2 jobs and volunteered coaching football and basketball for youth and high school children. This happened so fast and unexpectedly that now we are financially unable to survive with only my small income. even with me working overtime and trying to take care of everything and him. We hate that we have to do this but it has come to that point. We have enormous medical costs accruing everyday and he is getting weaker every day. Asking for help is not easy for us but we are being forced to swallow our pride and ask if you are able to help financially it would be a huge BLESSING and in the hope for recovery and medical costs that they will incur.
