For forty years, Parkside Rascals has been more than a daycare — it has been a living, breathing community. What began as a place for children to learn, play, and feel safe has grown into a home-away-from-home for hundreds of families. Generations of little ones have toddled through these doors, carrying with them the laughter, curiosity, and joy that have filled this space for decades.
Over the years, Parkside Rascals has supported not only children, but the parents who trusted us with their most precious treasures. We’ve stood beside families through new beginnings, challenges, milestones, and celebrations. We’ve watched babies become students, students become graduates, and graduates return as parents themselves. The threads of this place are woven into the stories of so many households.
And then there are the angels who have worked here — the teens who arrived shy and unsure, the helpers who discovered their gifts, the young adults who found their confidence and purpose within these walls. Parkside Rascals has always been a place where staff could grow just as much as the children. Many have gone on to college, careers, and parenthood, carrying with them the lessons, patience, and love they first practiced here. Some even grew up in our daycare and later returned to join the team, completing a beautiful full-circle moment that only a place like this can create.
This year, we want to bring everyone together for a special reunion at the Santa Cruz KOA — a place filled with memories from our group trips in the '90s. The cost of cabins and campsites can be steep, and I don’t want anyone to be left behind because of finances. By raising funds, we can make sure that every past and present Parkside Rascals staff member, from retired employees living out of state to those raising families, can join us for a weekend of campfire songs, talent shows, games, and laughter.
