Parks family flood recovery
Donation protected
We are currently housing our friends, Bryan and Jennifer Parks, and their children at our home in Kingwood, TX. They were evacuated from their river town home in Forest Cove on the west fork of the San Jacinto river the evening of 8/27. This is the fourth, and worst flood that they have endured in the nearly 3 years that they have lived there, as well as a fire in a neighboring unit that damaged their belongings. They are in a constant state of recovery, and do not want to go back at this point. My wish is to help them find enough aid, and raise enough money, so that they can stay put at our house for a while and save up a down payment for a house outside of a flood plain. Jennifer was the den leader for our son, Sam's, Cub Scout pack, as well as serving as community registar and leader for Girls Scouts. Bryan is a general contractor, and most likely lost all of his tools or a good portion of them, which were recently replaced after the 2016 Tax Day and Memorial weekend floods. Through everything, Jennifer and Bryan have never shirked their responsibilities towards their community or Scouts. They are an amazing and resilient family, and I would just like to give them a much needed break. Please donate, even if it is a small amount, everything helps. All funds donated are set up to go directly to their personal bank account. To date, they have only been able to get in their home and save a small amount of clothing, pictures, and a few heirlooms. The 3rd and 4rth floors are still dry, however, a 3rd floor water pipe has busted and their home is close to collapsing. It is really too dangerous for them to be trying to salvage bedroom furniture from the 3rd & 4rth floors, unless heavy equipment gets there soon to stabilize their unit. The day they were able to salvage some belongings, they were also dealing with looters, and HPD did nothing to protect the residents. At this point, they are expecting to lose everything.
