Help raise money for a short written by Eva Luna Devis, Joelle Tourneur, and Simon Devis! We are looking to raise money to provide inventory for our production crew, provide meals, and to raise money to distribute our film.
We are auctioning off two original watercolor paintings from artist Salomón Huerta, who has kindly donated his pieces to help us raise money for our film!! Salomón Huerta (Tijuana, Mexico, 1965) lives and works in Los Angeles. His work has been included in the Whitney Biennial, Whitney Museum of American Art, NY, and exhibitions at Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, CA, among others. Biddings for both will start at $1500!! Photos of the paintings are at the bottom!
Here is the description of the film:
Born and raised in the City of Angels, Eva Luna Devis, Joelle Tourneur, and Simon Devis spent hours discussing their youth in Los Angeles, something they realized was unique to their hometown. Inspired by moments from their adolescence as well as the works of Los Angeles-bred writers, Bret Easton Ellis’s Less Than Zero, Eve Babitz’ Slow Days, Fast Company, and Charles Bukowski’s Post Office, Eva Luna, Joelle, and Simon have set out to tell the story about teenage boys at the height of their youth in Los Angeles.
Taking place over the course of one night when a young man goes missing from his friend group, three boys set out to look for him, discovering clues tucked away in the nooks and crannies of the vast and sprawled city, that further their journey along. Parks, Boulevard, and Playgrounds is a personal experience for the three of them. It serves as a love letter to the city they grew up in but also serves as a cautionary tale about the hidden dangers that lurk beneath the surface of the twinkling lights and palm trees.
FROM EVA LUNA, JOELLE, AND SIMON:We hope that this project is something that resonates with you, as an Angelino or someone who’s just beginning to navigate their life here. Growing up in Los Angeles we were constantly surrounded by a milieu of different cultures, people, perspectives, and art forms. For this, we are infinitely grateful – and we hope this is something that we can share with our backers and donors.
