Hello everyone, we are fundraising for Jim Crothers a dear family friend of ours and Veteran who suffers from Parkinson’s disease.
Jim is originally from Michigan, served in Germany during the Vietnam War era and then moved to Sausalito, CA. where he worked as a professional painter in the boat harbor.
Jim has always been known for his caring, thoughtful and generous nature, going above and beyond for others and loved by all!
Jim has lived with Parkinson’s for over 20yrs trying countless different medications, none of which have improved the debilitating effects of the disease.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the first focused ultrasound device to treat essential tremor in patients who have not responded to medication. ExAblate Neuro uses magnetic resonance (MR) images taken during the procedure to deliver focused ultrasound to destroy brain tissue in a tiny area thought to be responsible for causing tremors. “Patients with essential tremor who have not seen improvement with medication now have a new treatment option that could help them to avoid more invasive surgical treatments,” said Carlos Peña, Ph.D., M.S., director of the division of neurological and physical medicine devices in the FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health.
Jim is now 72 years old and due to the severity of his tremors is no longer able to work and has moved back to Nashville, Michigan, where he lives with his brother.
We would be forever grateful for any donation amount to help him afford the opportunity to finally live tremor free, making his later years as comfortable as possible and improving his overall quality of life.
