My name is Tori Gipe. My husband, Chris, and I are parents to the sweetest, smartest, most empathetic, and silliest 4-year-old, Parker.

Parker is obsessed with Spiderman and PJ Masks, loves taking care of his 2-year-old sister Indy, has the best imagination with a set of Legos, and proudly supports the Bills Mafia alongside his dad.

Last week, after months of unexplained chronic pain, an MRI revealed an aggressive paraspinal tumor extending through his lumbar spine and compressing spinal nerves. Within hours, he completely lost control below his waist and was rushed into crash surgery to debulk the tumor and decompress the nerves. They were able to remove about 80% of the tumor, but it remains infiltrated in his vertebrae and nerves. Further workup has revealed nodules within both of his lungs.

While we await secondary MRI, PET scan, and pathology results, we’re in an agonizing state of the unknown - what it is, where else it is, how bad it is. We've been moved to a Pediatric Oncology room, and this is our home for the foreseeable future, while Indy remains home with family and friends.

Our hearts are broken for Parker. Anyone who knows him is unable to comprehend the inexplicable pain and confusion he's enduring. We find ourselves grappling with emotions beyond words as we try to walk him through this season of life.
