Parker Sullivan's Fight

Dear Friends and Family,

As some of you may already know, Kevin and Michelle and their family had their lives turned upside down on March 1st. Following what they thought was a routine visit to the pediatrician, they soon found themselves heading to one, and then a second hospital with 4-year-old Parker, their youngest. After only a few hours at Boston Children’s Hospital, they received the devastating news that Parker has Leukemia.

While Kevin and Michelle are still dealing with their shock and sadness, at the same time they are 100% focused, with their daughters Hannah and Clara, on keeping Parker happy and comfortable. As you can imagine, this is not easy. In the past few days, the little guy has received a blood transfusion, a spinal tap, bone marrow testing, a line installed to aid blood draws every few hours, and his first dose of Chemo, as the first steps in what will be an aggressive two-year cancer treatment plan.

Very quickly, as word started to spread that Parker was sick, friends and family far and wide have reached out to us to ask how they can help.

While this news alone is devastating, both Kevin and Michelle have been working through career transitions. Now, they will need to be with Parker in the hospital full-time for the next month, followed by periodic returns to the hospital, and then weekly or more frequent visits for ongoing outpatient treatment over the next two years. And, at the same time, they must somehow try to maintain a semblance of normalcy for their girls. For their family, the financial exposure to high deductibles, uncovered medical expenses, and new tailored coverage for Parker, as well as unforeseen miscellaneous expenses resulting from this new life, are some of the many challenges they will face as they reset and focus exclusively on Parker and getting him healthy.

We are asking for your help and support to allow them to maintain this focus by taking one aspect of their stress off the table. Any small amount will help, and will be so greatly appreciated by Kevin and Michelle and their families.
