Parker Copper Medical Expenses

Hi, my name is Elise Wells, I am creating this page for our friends, Chance and Shasta Copper and their sweet baby boy, Parker Gil.

On Wednesday, January 25th, while Parker was napping at daycare he stopped breathing and his heart stopped beating. His daycare provider started CPR right away and he was taken to the local hospital where they were able to get his heartbeat back. He was then transferred to Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines. They preformed many tests and began caring for Parker as best as they could. As of yesterday, January 27th, the group of doctors informed Chance and Shasta that the MRI of Parker’s brain showed severe brain damage to the entirety of his brain due to the lack of oxygen. Parker would never be able to live without the use of machines, which is not the life Chance and Shasta want for their sweet boy.

Chance and Shasta have made the decision to donate Parker’s organs. They don’t know how long that process will take as they are working on finding organ recipients. Until then they are making sure Parker is comfortable and loving on him.

Chance and Shasta are walking a path that no parent should ever have to walk. I know this community and I know we are all wanting to help in anyway we can – beyond your prayers, love, and support, lets help this sweet family financially as well. Funds will help them pay for Parker’s medical bills, travel expenses, cost of living, and future costs that they may have. Due to Shasta just coming off maternity leave she does not have any PTO built up and will need time off with her family to grieve.
