The Parkers (David, Danielle and Kohen) will be welcoming identical twin boys soon.  The boys due date is June but plans have changed.  A diagnosis of Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome was given and there has been a lot of monitoring of the babies.  Last Wednesday they went for their more recent check and between the lack of amniotic fluid and the cord flow issues, they were diagnosed with Stage 3 Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome and was presented with options for treatment. Additionally, their boys have a 27% discordance between their sizes. Without treatment, their prognosis is terrible - they have a very high risk of losing both of their babies. With treatment, it increases their chances of having 2 healthy babies, but it is not a 100% guarantee (still a 5-10% chance of losing one or both babies).  They decided on treatment that required a laser surgery within the uterus that will separate connecting blood vessels between the babies.

Friday during surgery, one of the first things that the surgeon does is map the placenta. What this means is he locates the veins and which ones are shared, and which ones belong to Baby A and Baby B. Both babies were super active during the procedure which caused some delays. Also due to Baby Bs position, the surgeon couldn’t map the placenta.... which means, no laser treatment.

Currently they are living day by day. Week by week. If they are lucky, month by month.  Their goal is to make it to at least 24 weeks... one week and one day away. Each day, each week, each month that they make it just a little further means more chances of their boys surviving Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome.

Danielle has been admitted into the hospital for daily monitoring.  She has had steroid shots to help boost the babies lung development.  The babies have had good heartbeats and have been moving around a lot.

David and Danielle could use some immediate financial help with food/travel needs.  Longer term needs will be the significant medical bills that will continue before and certainly after the babies arrive.
