Our community is devastated by the tragedy of losing our beloved school, Parkcrest Elementary. We are hoping to raise funds, specifically for the teachers and staff that have lost everything they have accumulated over the many years of teaching. We are grateful no one was injured or lost. Teachers and staff, moving forward need to acquire everything they have worked so hard to provide for our kids and their education, a lot of which came out of their own pockets.
If we can all work together as a community and pull together as Canadians, we can get teachers back on their feet and ready to provide our kids with the best guidance and outlook for the future.
Any donation or well wishes are so greatly appreciated while we all navigate through what happens next.
Updated to add some specifics now that everything has settled a bit and teachers have a better idea of what it is exactly that they need to replace.
The funds will be going directly to Parkcrest teachers, likely through the Parkcrest Recovery Fund at the School Board Office. (17 divisional teachers, 2 LARTs, one Prep teacher, and the librarian) to aid in replacing things like personal instructional resources, learning incentives, personal libraries and educational posters, games, supplies in creating their own learning resources..etc. The funds will be divided amongst theteachers, with the help of Principal Cath Gorman. I will be handling the transfer of funds from GoFundMe to my account and from my account to the School Board Office. Gofundme is VERY thorough and wants me to make it very clear to all of you what my intentions are once the money is withdrawn. Rest assured, every penny remaining after Gofundme takes their portion will end up in the care of Cath Gorman who will then meet with the teachers and they will collectively decide how the money is divided amongst them. Thank you ALL so much for your support. The teachers are so very grateful ❤️
