Park Eddy's Long Term Care

Hi, my name is Elizabeth Eddy, and it was about a week ago my life changed forever. Saturday night, July 2, I was out to dinner with some friends when my mom called. My dad had suffered a horrible hemorrhagic stroke and was going into surgery. For context, this man is an animal. He's 61 and plays in an underwater torpedo league with a bunch of 30-year-olds. He loves it.

Mom went on to share how it was a great Saturday. They had taken the dog to the beach. Relaxed at home watching some tv. Dad went upstairs to get some work done. About 40 minutes later, my littlest brother found Dad collapsed, unconscious and barely breathing. 911 was called, and he was rushed to Hoag Hospital for emergency surgery. They put a stent in to relieve the pressure in his brain.

The nurse gave us a rough timeline. Weeks in ICU, months of intensive care, and possibly years for a full recovery. She shared how it will be a long journey, and there will be many ups and downs. So here I am, writing the kind of letter nobody ever wants to write or receive because it profoundly affects people you love.

We have had miracles already. Surviving the stroke. Making it through surgery. Moments of consciousness. Responsive when awake. Right side movement. The breathing tube is out. He wrote the letter K. He even threw up a Fight On (this looks like a peace sign for all you non-USC people). The doctors said it's very unlikely his left side will recover, and yesterday he moved his left leg voluntarily! So many miracles!! God is good, and He can heal him fully. We believe and pray for complete healing and are thankful for every moment with him, each miracle already, and your prayers and support.
