Park Bench for Jimmy Wolpert

On June 12, 2018 the San Diego community lost the most incredible soul. Jimmy Wolpert was a beloved son, friend, and local comedian who impacted hundreds of lives. He filled many local comedy venues with laughter over the last five years and brought a smile to the face of just about everyone he encountered. Those who have been remembering him this week have often said Jimmy was their first friend in San Diego; a direct reflection of his genuine heart and kind nature.

This week, we discovered a tweet from Jimmy dating back to January 2017. We like to think this is his way of telling us how he would like to be remembered. We are going to do everything in our power to make a memorial bench come true to honor our friend's life and memory.

We've set a goal of $5000 until we are able to get a direct answer from San Diego City Council. We've based this number on a few quotes we received for having a memorial bench placed in San Diego County. 100% of the proceeds will be used towards either erecting a memorial bench or having a plaque placed on an existing one.

Any surplus of funds will be used towards a memorial plaque in Ocean Beach (quoted at $150) where Jimmy often performed at Winston's. Depending on the success of this campaign, we are also considering a scholarship to benefit students in the performing arts.
