Park bench commemoration for Mark Wehman
Donation protected
Mark was our friend. He meant more to people than I think he ever realized. He had a funny, quick wit and a kind heart; he was a talented artist and had a curious mind. He will be so missed.
For years, Mark lived across the street from Golden Gate Park. He took advantage of that proximity; after moving away from SF, I would often get calls from Mark while he was walking or just hanging out in the park -- he took me there every time I came to visit. He particularly liked hanging out at Stow Lake, near where he lived.
The San Francisco Parks Alliance offers a Bench Commemoration program. With this fundraiser, we are planning to remember Mark with a plaque on a bench -- hopefully on the banks of Stow Lake. If we are unable to raise enough for this, we will look into other suitable ways to remember Mark, like planting a tree or sponsoring a park bench in one of San Francisco's many other parks.
