Dear Friends, Fans, and Colleagues,

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to share that I was diagnosed on March 10, 2025, with metastatic Hormone-Sensitive Prostate Cancer (mHSPC). The cancer has spread to my lymph nodes and bones. I have the BRCA1 gene mutation and an aggressive Gleason score of 9 (5+4). This has been a profound shock, and I’m now facing the fight of my life.

I am currently recovering from GreenLight laser surgery (performed to help relieve urinary symptoms caused by the cancer and enlarged prostate tissue). Although I pushed to return to work just 10 days after the procedure, I now realize that was too soon. From September 2025 to February 2026, I completed intravenous chemotherapy. I am also on ongoing, debilitating androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) and oral chemotherapy medications that have taken a significant toll on my energy and daily life, also causing pain and loss of self identity.

While I can still manage occasional work shifts, a full schedule is no longer possible. Most days I’m limited to about four hours out of the house and need significant rest to focus on healing. The financial strain of uncovered or partially covered treatments is real. Many advanced options — especially those involving precision therapies, out-of-country care, or newer targeted drugs — are not fully funded under OHIP, even with public programs like the New Drug Funding Program.

At diagnosis, the median projected survival was an additional 19 months. I am hoping for more, with cutting edge new treatments. That’s why I’ve set up a GoFundMe, which will help cover daily living, newly emerging treatments, supportive medications, travel for treatment abroad if necessary, and advanced therapies that may not qualify for full public coverage.

For example:

•Pluvicto (a PSMA-targeted radioligand therapy) can cost approximately $50,000–$135,000 USD for a full course of treatment (typically 4–6 doses at ~$27,000 per dose). It is currently funded in Ontario only after progression to castration-resistant disease.

•Proton beam therapy (a precise form of radiation) often ranges from $100,000–$200,000 USD per treatment course in the US
Canada is still the only G7 country without a clinical proton beam therapy facility. Patients may access it out-of-country through special approval.

I hate asking for help. I’ve always been the one giving — performing, advocating for the homeless, and trying to lift others up. But right now, I’m at a crossroads, and this is truly a matter of extending life, by exploring every possible avenue to fight this.

If you can contribute, it would mean the world. If not, please keep me in your prayers — to Jesus or however you connect spiritually — and share this campaign so it reaches more people.

My deepest wish is to finish this chapter on a high note: releasing my final recordings as a grand encore, cherishing every moment with my beloved wife (our little “nation of two”), and our rescue animals. I’m still open to bookings and would love to participate in fundraisers where my energy allows.

To all of you: Tell the people you love that you love them. Offer kindness freely. Don’t wait to make memories.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your support, big or small, gives me strength.

Much love,
Paris Black

P.S. 1 in 2 of us will face cancer in their lifetime. Better access to cutting-edge treatments shouldn’t depend on wealth. Please pray for me, share this, and let’s raise awareness together. God bless. ✨
