Dear Friends,
If you're getting this, you've seen me on the grind for the last 3 to 10 years.
I'm about to release an EP of three new songs called Paris. We have a distribution offer in the wings... however, until then, I need some support making it to that finish line. I've put everything I have into this project personally and financially. That's what you do for the things you love right? It's not easy for me to ask for help, because I expect myself to figure things out on my own. However for this project to reach completion, and me to retain my sanity, I need to do exactly that.
In the last few months, in the midst of everything happening, we assembled a team and put together a beautiful video. In a sense, this Ep is about an escape: to most people, Paris is the ideal version of attainment, beauty and romance. For me, it was where I was able to let go of the heartbreak I had felt after 30 years of unrequitedly loving men steeped in patriarchy and thereby letting go of the "woman" I felt I needed to be for them. This journey does not judge that love, but honors it and honors heartbreak as a valid process to self-liberation. We created a beautiful feminist, gender fluid, brown girl story, an oasis.
It's taken a whole team of people, working way below their market rate to even get us where we are. I thought I could be liberated by myself. I was wrong.
If you are able, if you can help me bring this into the world, and help set me up for the rest of the music I know I'm supposed to make and release, I would be really grateful, happy, and way less stressed. I love you, Thank you for being in my life.
